As you delve deeper into the capabilities of ChatGPT, you may find yourself wanting more personalized interactions. That's where custom instructions come into play. By providing specific guidelines, you can enhance the quality and relevance of your conversations. If you are constantly coming back to ChatGPT and giving it specific instruction over and over (like: “Write me a Facebook post for my company Koodos ltd, but make it unformal, and translate to German language. Add relevant hashtags in the end. Use this text….”), than you can add the repeating instruction into custom instructions.

Here's how to make the most of this feature:

1. Accessing Custom Instructions:

Open OpenAI ChatGPT in browser or app. To initiate the Custom Instructions interface, right-click on you profile (image+name) in lower left corner of the screen. In tab select “Customize ChatGPT”.

2. Crafting Your Instructions:

Think about what you want to achieve with ChatGPT. Are you seeking detailed explanations, creative storytelling, or assistance with a particular topic? Tailor your instructions accordingly. Be clear and concise in your wording to ensure ChatGPT understands your intentions.

Write general instructions and guidelines about you in the first box (this is all about setting the stage about you): “I am a PR agent in company Koodos ltd, from Berlin, Germany. We are an creative agency with over a 100 agents working in PR.”

In the second box you add desccriptiof tone you would like ChatGPT to use when responding: “We use unformal German language to write our public relation adds on social media. We address our readers as “Our creative familly”. In our posts we always use hashtags #koodos and #agency.”.

3. Providing Context:

Help ChatGPT understand the context of your conversation by providing relevant information. If you're discussing a specific topic or asking a question, include relevant keywords or background details.

4. Setting Parameters:

Specify any constraints or guidelines to steer the conversation in the desired direction. For example, if you want ChatGPT to avoid certain topics or adhere to a specific tone, clearly communicate these preferences in your instructions. Here you can also add an example text to let ChatGPT understand the wanted tone.

5. Experimenting with Variations:

Don't be afraid to experiment with different instructions to see what yields the best results. Try adjusting the level of detail, tone, or style to find the perfect balance for your needs. The more you interact with ChatGPT and provide feedback, the better it will understand and cater to your preferences.

6. Offering Feedback:

If you're not satisfied with ChatGPT's responses, provide constructive feedback to help improve its understanding and performance. Whether it's pointing out inaccuracies, suggesting alternative phrasing, or highlighting areas for improvement, your input can contribute to the ongoing development of the AI.

7. Staying Engaged:

When you are satisfied with ChatGPT custom “Personality” use Save and click on the button “Enable for future chats". Now when you close and go back to your main interface, any prompt you make will be returned with following of set custom instructions. If you need to turn it off, go back to Customize ChatGPT and turn off the “Enable for future chats" button.
