Battle of AI Giants: ChatGPT vs. Copilot vs. Gemini

Contestants, please enter the ring, and let’s rumble! 🧞🦄🚀

The AI landscape is constantly evolving, with new contenders emerging and established players vying for dominance. Three names that have consistently stood out in this arena are ChatGPT, Copilot, and Gemini. Each of these AI giants brings a unique set of strengths to the table, making the choice of the "best" a matter of individual needs and preferences. Let's delve into a grand comparison of these three titans to help you decide which one might be the right fit for you.

For this comparison, we created four simple tasks (prompts) we asked all three AI tools:

  1. task: Create a short seminar about what freedom means to humans.

  2. task: Generate an image of what freedom means to humans.

  3. task: Create an email scraping script in Python so I can extract all emails out of incoming messages in my Gmail account.

  4. task: We wrote a task in Croatian language, and we expect the answer to also be in Croatian.

The Verdict

ChatGPT Pro: The Enhanced Conversationalist

ChatGPT Pro, the premium version of OpenAI's chatbot, boasts superior performance, faster response times, and priority access during peak usage.

  • Strengths: Advanced language understanding, creative text generation, wide range of conversational applications, priority access, wide range of plugins.

  • Unique Feature: GPT-4 access, the most advanced language model, enabling even more nuanced and sophisticated conversations.

  • Weakness: All the best features are included as a bundle, but only in a paid version.

The image generated by ChatGPT was by far the best and most useful.

Bing Copilot: The Web-Powered Companion

Integrated with Microsoft's Bing search engine, Bing Copilot excels at retrieving and summarizing information from the web, providing contextually relevant answers and creative suggestions.

  • Strengths: Real-time information access, a lot of free functionality, web search integration, creative writing assistance, conversation summarization, number of plugins.

  • Unique Feature: "Chat and Create" mode, generating text, images, and more based on conversational prompts and web results. Microsoft's biggest success is integration on the vertical between browser (Chrome) - Serch Engine (Bing) - AI model (Copilot).

  • Weakness: In basic writing, Copilot is referencing the sources with links, which makes the text hard to copy/paste with formating. The image we created had those distorted faces on all images, which makes them unusable for any serious work.

The image generated by Copilot Designer was good but unusable because of human face distortion.

Google Gemini: The Multi-Modal Enigma

Though still in development, Google Gemini promises to be a game-changer with its multi-modal capabilities, potentially surpassing its rivals in understanding and generating text, images, and even videos. At least this is promised by Google. But most of this is still just “Projected”.

  • Strengths: Very good text generation. (Projected) Multi-modal capabilities, potential for wide-ranging applications, Google's AI research expertise.

  • Unique Feature: (Projected) Seamless integration with Google's huge ecosystem of apps and services.

  • Weakness: Does not create code or images. It is not integrated with Google's search engine yet.

The Verdict

The "best" AI giant would still be ChatGPT, as it has the most unique capabilities and wide support of additional plugins, and it received a perfect average score of 5/5 on our LMAI test. Bing Copilot's web (Bing) and browser (Chrome) integration, combined with large functionality in the free version, make it a formidable contender. Copilot received a very good average of 4.75/5 on the LMAI scale. And if you're excited about the potential of multi-modal AI, Gemini could be the one to watch in the future, but due to the current lack of advanced capabilities, it received a low average of 2.5/5 on LMAI scale.

Text to video App: Great idea or not so much?

The world of AI is booming and almost every day there is some new app or feature to try it. We've seen it boost efficiency in countless fields, and video creation is no exception. For those without editing expertise, we tried out the VideoGen app that offers quite interesting things like text to video or text to image solutions. Let's take a closer look at how VideoGen app works.

 Getting Started with VideoGen App

Using a VideoGen app is pretty straightforward. Here's a general process you can expect:

  1. Sign Up:  First things first, you'll need to create an account on the app website. Creating an account is free. This grants you access to your own workspace, where you can manage all your video projects.

  2. Craft Your Script: Write a detailed description of your video concept, with a maximum length of around 3,600 characters. At the free version you get 5000 characters you can use to make videos. The more detailed your description, the better the app can tailor the video. You can ask ChatGpt to help to write a perfect prompt to your ideas.

  3. Select Your Video Format: VideoGen apps typically offer a variety of video format options. Choose from formats that will suit you for YouTube or for social media reels or stories.  It all depends on your target platform and goals. You can choose from Portrait mode, Square or Landscape.

  4. Customize Your Video: This is where you can add your personal touch. You can select a narrator's voice (gender, accent, etc.), customize subtitles, and even choose from stock photos and videos (though free plans may have limitations).

  5. Generate and Refine: Click "generate" to bring your vision to life! The app will analyze your script and begin creating your video. This process was quite quick in our case.

  6. Edit it until you are satisfied: Here's your chance to fine-tune your video. You can adjust lenght of your clip, or change the order of the clips that create your video until you are fully satisfied.

Downloading video: You can sign in and try out VideoGen for free, but you must buy one of the monthly plans to download and distribute the video you created.

 Prices:

VideoGen has three paid versions- Pro, Scale and Enterprise. Pro costs 29 dollars per month (with a 30% discount for yearly subscriptions), the Pro plan offers 100,000 characters of text-to-speech per month, lifelike text-to-speech, up to 5,000 characters per video script, 4K downloads, and 5 GB storage for uploaded assets. Scale costs 79 dollars per month (with a 30% discount for yearly subscriptions), the Scale plan provides 300,000 characters of text-to-speech per month, lifelike text-to-speech, up to 8,000 characters per video script, 4K downloads, and 20 GB storage for uploaded assets. Enterprise is 179 dollars per month (with a 30% discount for yearly subscriptions), the Enterprise plan includes 1,000,000 characters of text-to-speech per month, lifelike text-to-speech, up to 8,000 characters per video script, 4K downloads, 50 GB storage for uploaded assets, and priority support.

Who Can Benefit from VideoGen Apps?

Well in our opinion it is a great app for saving time to Marketing enthusiasts, aslo faceles YouTubers and Social Media creators but also educators that need quick video in a few minutes.

 Limitations:

We have not tried the paid version of the product, but what we think might be a limitation of the VideoGen app is the stock footage. Many apps rely on stock footage and templates. While this can be efficient, it can also lead to homogenous content that can be quite repetitive after some time. Also, we are not sure if the paid version offers more editing capabilities because, for truly polished and amazing videos, you might need to upgrade or use additional editing software.

 The Verdict

If you're looking to create videos quickly and efficiently, VideoGen is a powerful tool to consider. Whether you're starting a YouTube channel, crafting social media content, or creating educational resources, this app can save you time. However, keep in mind that the free plan is limited, so explore paid options if you need more features and flexibility. We would rate it as 4/5 on LMAI scale.
