So, I found this thing called Img Upscaler—an AI tool that promises to transform your low-res photos into crispy masterpieces. Sounds amazing, right? I was sold.

For about five minutes.

The Dream

At first, I was hyped. “Finally, I can upscale all those grainy old photos I’ve been hoarding!” I imagined blowing up pixelated memories into gallery-worthy works of art. I was ready to become the Da Vinci of digital upscaling.

The Reality

Here’s where it fell apart. I spent 30 minutes digging through my photo archives trying to find a single low-res image worth saving. Turns out, I don’t have any. Apparently, I’ve been living in the era of HD cameras for over a decade. And old images I have, I really do not need in any high resolution.

After finally finding a blurry image of a dog I didn’t even remember owning, I gave it a go. Sure, it worked. The AI sharpened it into a masterpiece. But by then, I’d already lost interest—and 30 minutes of my life I’ll never get back. And that was to test it! Now, I was left wondering what I would use this tool for. Especially the paid version.

The Final Blow

In a last-ditch attempt to get excited again, I watched their promotional video on YouTube. Big mistake. I went in hoping for mind-blowing examples and came out wondering if I needed a nap. It was like watching paint dry, except the paint was a stock photo being sharpened by an insignificant 10 %.

My Takeaway

Img Upscaler is a cool tool, but only if you’re sitting on a treasure trove of low-res images that actually matter. If you’re like me and need to hunt for 30 minutes just to find something to try it on, you probably don’t need it. And if the promo video doesn’t make you want to cry tears of boredom, you’re built different. I have to give it a weak 2.5 out of 6 on LMAI scale.
