Hi fam!

Bad news: you can no longer keep up with everything happening in AI. 😆

Good news: you don't have to. 💪

We've filtered out the noise, kept the stories that matter, and sprinkled in a few practical tips to help you work a little smarter this week.

Enjoy! 🚀

The future of AI feels Like Magic, and it’s here!

Today’s headlines weren't just about smarter models—they were about global influence, AI safety, specialized tools, and the hardware powering the next generation of artificial intelligence.

  • Chinese President Xi Jinping opened the World AI Conference in Shanghai, calling for international cooperation on AI development and governance. China also announced new AI training initiatives and presented its vision for global AI standards.

Why this matters: AI is no longer just a technology race—it's becoming a geopolitical one. Different regions are now competing to shape the rules that could define the future of AI.

  • The Future of Life Institute released its latest AI Safety Index, and the results were sobering. Anthropic ranked highest with a C+, while OpenAI and Google DeepMind received C grades. No frontier AI company scored an A or B.

Why this matters: Despite rapid advances in AI capabilities, independent researchers believe the industry's safety practices still have significant room for improvement.

  • Anthropic has introduced Claude for Teachers, a version of Claude built specifically for K–12 educators. It includes classroom-focused features and provides eligible teachers with access to premium AI capabilities at no cost.

Why this matters: AI companies are increasingly building products for specific professions instead of relying on one-size-fits-all chatbots. Education is becoming one of the first sectors to receive dedicated AI experiences rather than general-purpose tools.

  • Chinese startup Moonshot AI has unveiled Kimi K3, a 2.8 trillion-parameter open-weight model designed to compete with leading models from OpenAI and Anthropic. The company claims strong performance in coding, reasoning, and long-context tasks while making the model openly available.

Why this matters: The race for the best AI model is no longer limited to U.S. companies. Chinese labs are rapidly closing the gap, and open-weight models are giving developers more powerful alternatives to closed commercial systems.

  • Google is reportedly developing a new generation of AI accelerator chips with Gemini built directly into the hardware. Instead of relying solely on software, parts of the Gemini model will run natively on Google's custom chips, improving speed and efficiency for AI workloads.

Why this matters: The AI race is no longer just about building better models—it's also about building better hardware. By combining AI models and AI chips, Google is following the same strategy that made companies like Apple successful: tighter integration between software and hardware can deliver faster performance, lower costs, and a better user experience.

Three quick AI habits

One tip wasn't enough...

So this week, we're sharing three quick AI tips that will help you stay organized and work a little smarter.

👆 Name Your Chats

If all your conversations are called "New Chat," you're making them harder to find.

Whether you're using ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini, or Perplexity, take 10 seconds to give each chat a descriptive name. Your future self will thank you.

✌️ Pin Your Favorites

Most AI tools let you pin important conversations. In ChatGPT, Claude, and Perplexity, you can keep your most-used chats—like your writing assistant, travel planner, or coding helper—right at the top.

A small habit that saves a surprising amount of time.

🤟 Archive, Don't Delete

Finished with a project? Archive it instead of deleting it.

Platforms like ChatGPT and Claude make it easy to revisit old conversations when you need to recover an idea, reuse a prompt, or find an answer you forgot to save.

Think of your AI chats as a growing knowledge library—not disposable conversations. 🚀

Personal Style Guide

Every time you open a new chat, AI has a small identity crisis. It has no idea how you write. So it defaults to sounding like... well... AI.

You know the style:
"I'm excited to announce..."
"In today's fast-paced world..."
"Unlock your full potential..."

Please. Don't.

Create a Style Guide Once

Instead of correcting AI every single time, create a simple document called "My Writing Style."

Tell AI things like:

  • I write short paragraphs.

  • Avoid corporate buzzwords.

  • Be conversational.

  • Use humor.

  • Don't overuse emojis.

  • Never say "delve into."

Even better, include 3–5 examples of your own writing.

Let AI Study You

Before starting a project, simply upload your style guide and say:

Use this as my writing style for everything you create.

Suddenly, AI stops sounding like everyone's intern and starts sounding a lot more like... you.

One Small Document. Hundreds of Fewer Edits.

You'll spend less time rewriting, deleting clichés, and asking AI to "make it less robotic."

Instead, you'll get content that's much closer to your voice from the very first draft.

After all, AI should adapt to your style—not the other way around.

From The Archive: A Comprehensive Review of AI Tools

Two years ago, we celebrated 40 issues of Like Magic AI by reviewing 61 AI tools that were shaping the future of work.

Looking back, it's fascinating to see how much has changed. Some of those tools quietly disappeared. Others evolved into entirely different products. And a handful became everyday essentials that millions of people now rely on.

It’s a reminder of just how quickly the AI landscape changes. The tools making headlines today may look very different two years from now—but the goal remains the same: finding technology that genuinely helps you work smarter.

Curious which tools stood the test of time?
